Abstract
In order to exert influence in the international arena, the new Iraq needs to have a more active presence in the field of global foreign policy and communication. This will enable the country to advance its national interests across various levels. The lack of media development during Saddam Hussein's dictatorship and the Baath party regime has had lasting effects, leaving the Iraqi government without a defined strategy in media and public diplomacy. Despite the increasing importance of media power in foreign policy as a form of soft power over the past few decades, which has become a key indicator of a country's diplomatic prowess, Iraq has lagged behind. This study, based on the analysis of interviews with 20 Iraqi media, communication, and diplomatic experts, aims to explore potential solutions for enhancing Iraqi media diplomacy and elevating its standing. The findings suggest that creating tailored media content, implementing a targeted media strategy, and directing media focus towards foreign policy matters are key steps that can enhance Iraq's media diplomacy.
