The Fundamental and Applied Studies of the Islamic World applies a double-blind peer review system, ensuring that both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial check by the editorial office. At this stage, the article is evaluated for:
Compliance with the Guide for Authors (format, structure, referencing style),
Plagiarism and similarity check,
Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may either be returned to authors for correction or directly rejected. Those that pass are forwarded for editorial assessment.
The Editor evaluates the scientific quality and thematic fit of the manuscript. If deemed suitable, it is assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript’s originality, methodology, analysis, and overall contribution to knowledge. Based on their recommendations, the outcome will be one of the following:
Revision required (minor or major) – comments are shared with the author for revision.
Reject – if the manuscript lacks scientific quality, originality, or alignment with the journal’s scope.
Note: If one reviewer recommends acceptance while another recommends rejection, the editor-in-chief may refer the manuscript to a third reviewer.
If revisions are requested, the authors must submit a revised version within 15–20 days. Multiple rounds of revision (up to 2–3 cycles) may be required. Revised manuscripts are generally reviewed by the handling editor or editor-in-chief; in cases of substantial revisions, the manuscript may be re-sent to reviewers for further evaluation.
A final decision is made after the revision is confirmed. This decision is usually made by the editor-in-chief (or a designated editor). The manuscript will either be:
Accepted – authors are notified and issued an acceptance letter,
Rejected – in cases where the manuscript still fails to meet requirements.
Upon acceptance, authors are requested to pay the Article Processing Charges (APC). The paper is first published as Online First (Article in Press), followed by copyediting, formatting, and final publication in the scheduled issue.
